Update #1

For the past month, I've been focusing more on reading than writing. Check back next month for reviews on Freya North's Pip and Katie Fforde's A Christmas Feast. However, I have made a start on my 'Goals'.

On Tuesday, I sent two stories to a short story magazine. Now I just have a 10-12 week wait until I find out the outcome. I am fully expecting two rejections, but no harm in trying, right?

On another note, Poisoned Blue, the first book in the Jamie Stanley Crime Scene Investigation series, is set up for a Kindle Countdown Deal this weekend. Get your copy for 99p/99¢ this Saturday/Sunday!

What are people saying about Poisoned Blue?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Modern Day Agatha Christie! September 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Poisoned Blue is the first book in the Jamie Stanley series. Jamie is a newly hired detective, solving her first case with two male investigators, giving them a run for their money. This story is a quick read and reminds me of an Agatha Christie mystery. We follow Jamie Stanley as she unravels the murder of a local business woman, combing over the evidence and teaching her two colleagues how it's done! I was impressed with author Katie L. Thompson's knowledge of police work and shocked to learn her age. She is a young talent who we will definitely be seeing more of! I enjoyed this first book from author Katie L Thompson and I look forward to more in this series! Way to go Katie! You gained a fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved reading this book September 19, 2014

I loved reading this book. Thompson gives just enough information that I was kept interested and trying to work out who the murderer was, but I was never able to say exactly who it was. The plot develops well as more strands are brought into it and I felt like I really got to know the characters.

Goals for 2015

Here is a basic outline of what I want to achieve this year:

1. Win Camp NaNoWriMo April
Last year I set myself a target of 10,000 and achieved 23,000. This year, I aim to write 50,000 words in the month of April, although this may change nearer the time - depending what else I have to do.

2. Win Camp NaNoWriMo July
Last year I set myself a target of 50,000 and achieved the full 50,000. This year, I aim to write 50,000 words again, although this may change nearer the time - depending what else I have to do.

3. Win NaNoWriMo
I aim to win NaNoWriMo for the third year running.

4. Submit Short Stories to Magazines

What are your writing goals?

Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope 2015 brings you lots of happiness.
