Casey Adams - Letter #2

Hello again!

I'm back - I know, you were hoping this day would never come - sorry about that. Anyway, today is day two of NaNoWriMo - only twenty-eight more days to go. I'd like to tell you that there's been loads of progress on my diary, but there hasn't, so I can't tell you that. My author is SLOW! But, I guess I should give her a bit of a break. People tell me that this writing lark is actually pretty hard work - hey, who knew?

So, today I met up with the girls - yippee! Tomorrow I'll be going back to school - boo! Adults are always telling me that school years are the best years of your life - I may as well give up now!

I'll be back tomorrow with some more boring news on my boring life. Cheerio!

Casey Adams - Letter #1

Dear Readers ... Reader ... Dad

For the next month (all 30 days of it), you have to put up with listening to me (well you don't have to, you could just stay away from this page, but if you want to look at this page, then you have to put up with me).

Let's backtrack a few steps. My name is Casey Adams, I'm fourteen years old, and my life has well and truly gone down the pooper. My parents are alright - as alright as parents get anyway. My mum works a lot, and my dad thinks he's the funniest person in the world, although even the dog runs away when he starts off on one of his, oh so not funny, jokes. I'm just starting year ten at school - time for the hard work to begin, dreaded GCSEs (that's O-levels for all you old folk) - but that's not even the worst bit. Back to school means putting up with all the losers I left behind at the start of the summer. I mean, every school has the odd idiot around, but my school seems to be full of them. And then there are the bullies.

The only up point about my life is my friends. There's Ellie (the ginger one) and Poppy and Lily (the twins). Ellie spent most of the summer with her cousins, and I've barely seen the twins in between their fancy trips across the world. We went to Devon - it was nice, but not as nice as Australia or New Zealand would've been. It'll be nice to catch up with them all again.

So, why have I appeared now? Well, isn't it obvious? It's November. Time for NaNoWriMo. My story is finally about to begin. By the end of this month, my author will have written a whole 50,000 words about me in the form of a diary. 50,000 words is a lot! All I ask is that I get a boyfriend somewhere in all of that. *Sigh* There's no harm in dreaming, is there? She's even made a fantastic cover for my diary - but more on that another day.

That's enough rambling for now. I'll be back tomorrow.

Love Uncorked (The Love List Book 1)

Syrah Syrah wine shop in Vine grove, the heart of wine country. After her plan
of starting a book club to meet single, local men falls flat, her new found
friends come up with The Love List. Each dropped a name of a nice guy their
friends may like but just not a guy they'd date. Or think of romantically.
Tegan chooses Richard. After one disastrous meeting with him, Tegan wonders if
The Love List isn't a terrible idea.

Richard’s a jerk. But, when handsome Australian cowboy, August, shows up,
things may take a turn.

Love Found Me (The Love List Book 2)

When it’s Chloe Miles turn to pick a
name out of The Love List she didn’t expect to find true love. She just wanted
to go on a date with a nice, available guy. Not one who drank too much, or was
unemployed and wanted to stay that way. Or especially one who didn’t know what
monogamy means.

Mitch Brodin didn’t know his heart was in the hands of The Love List. His Fate
was set the moment he set foot into Roy's Pet Rescues looking for advice on how
to care for new born kittens.

Chloe is vivacious, unpredictable, and tons of fun, while he is methodical,
predictable, and well… cynical. He surely hadn’t planned on falling in love.
But that’s what you get when you’re not looking for love.

Along with a good friend and a bottle of wine.
In the heart of wine country, four friends spice up their book club and create
The Love List. Love is the last thing on Becca's mind until she's matched with
Chase Tanner.

Chase discovers the love list and believes to be fooled. Can Becca convince him
she really does love him?

Genre: Murder Mystery

Blurb: When a bride is stabbed to death on her wedding day, DI Jamie Stanley and the team are called in. They immediately pluck three suspects from the wedding party of over two hundred guests. Why would anyone want to kill a bride on her wedding day?

Interview: Kelli Sue Landon

What have you had published?
Five mystery novels: Sudden Moves (YA), Nightmare at Camp Forrestwood (YA), Summer Shack: A Killer Vacation (NA), The Henderson Harbor Killings (Summer Shack Prequel-Book 2, NA) and Stranded in Time (NA) and one short story collection titled Short Tales.

What genre(s) of book do you write?
Mystery/Crime Thrillers (Young and New Adult)

What inspired you to write your first book?
Sudden Moves started out as an idea I had since high school. I sat down to write it as a story and it became longer and longer. I sent some of it to some friends of mine by email and they loved it, saying it needed to be published.

How long did it take you to write “Summer Shack: A Killer Vacation”?
About six months.

What is the working title of your next book(s)?
Memories in Time (Stranded in Time sequel)

When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing out of boredom. I would sit in my bedroom as a young teenager and take a blank piece of paper and just make up stories. Before long, I had a whole shoebox full of them.

Do you self publish your books or go through an agency?
I self publish (both by a publishing company and on my own through Amazon)

What part of writing books do you find the hardest?
How to piece everything together to make a good solid mystery and have it make sense.

What do you do in your spare time?
I work full time for the U.S. Postal Service and work out regularly at a local fitness center.

Who is your favourite author?
Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Linwood Barclay, and Janet Evanovich.

What’s your favourite genre to read?
Mystery or Thriller

Do you have any advice for other writers?
Never give up and never steer clear of self publishing. Many successful authors publish their own books and are very happy with it. There are many ways to publish for free online and find cheaper ways of marketing without paying an arm and a leg (which I have done before). The more publishing you do yourself, the more educated you become in the publishing field.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I find it best to write an hour a day – if you are having trouble finding the time, set aside one hour, no matter how much or how little you write. I find that this keeps the story fresh in my mind.
