About the Author:
Hi, my name is Siren Allen. I’m a writer and lover of all things erotic and romantic. I reside in southern Mississippi where I write steamy romances that are guaranteed to make you blush. When I’m not listening to the characters in my head and jotting down their adventures, I am busy working as a Clinical Laboratory Technician.
I love to travel, preferably with my husband, so he can do all of the driving. I enjoy time with my family, who are just as silly as I am. I have no children…yet, wish me luck! My hobbies are reading, writing and shopping, though I hate trying on clothing. If I wasn’t a writer or a Laboratory Professional, I would probably be a Secret Agent. But that’s the beauty of being a writer; you can create your own world and be whoever you want to be. In my imaginary world, I am Queen and my siblings are my minions.

Review: "Stirred Up" by Isabel Morin

Isabel Morin has done it again. Another fantastic story. She never fails to impress.

I read this book from beginning to end in one day. It is longer than the first book in the “Sin City Series” but equally as brilliant. Isabel has created individual characters which you can easily relate to and you find yourself slipping into the characters places, living the scenarios for them.

Cheryl Munroe is a student teacher during the week and a stripper at the weekends. Jason Shaw, the teacher she’ll be spending the next semester with is completely off limits, but that doesn’t stop them from being friends. Isabel portrays the life of both Cheryl and Jason, showing their every day/week routines and the relationship between the two as it grows from colleagues to more than that.

An enticing plot, great characters and a writing style that flows perfectly. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. A great summer read.

Freebie Friday: My Erotic Alphabet Series - Careers (3/26)

C is for Chemist

Series: My Erotic Alphabet Series - Careers
Author: Katie L Thompson
Genre: Erotic
Length: approx. 2000 words
Release Date: 24/07/2013
Blurb:
Lana has worked in the same chemist since she left college two years ago. While her friends have been at university spending most of their time going to parties and getting drunk she has been stuck behind a desk, organising shelves and serving ungrateful customers.

It was just an ordinary work day until Sam walked into the chemist, plonked a box of condoms on the desk and slid his business card across towards her. She picked up the card and slipped it into her back pocket. After all, when was the last time she’d done something really crazy?

.
Available from the following retailers:
Amazon US

Extract:
The shop was empty except for an elderly lady who was sitting on the floor in the corner of the room fussing over which nail brush to buy.
Lana couldn’t help wondering how she’d ended up here. She was supposed to be the intelligent one out of her group of college friends, but somehow she’d ended up in an awful job, with terrible wages, while they’d all skipped off to university.
It hadn’t occurred to her just how bad her job was until Kayla had rung her up the previous night.
The phone call had gone slightly like this:
“So, how’s uni going?”
“It’s absolutely fab. We stay in the pub most nights until about one o’clock and then sleep in ‘til eleven. Lectures don’t start properly ‘til next week. What about you? How’s the job?”
“Um,” Lana had said, trying to think up an answer which would put her job in a good light. “Well I work in the chemist on the corner. The one where you bought your first pregnancy test, the one that came out negative, not the one that gave you Zoe.”

Interview: Andy Dale

What have you had published?
‘First Years – Piranhas in the Bedroom’ is my first novel, but I have written a number of plays over the years. I have also written a series of children books about a King called Derek who lives in Dudley. Derek is never quite happy with his life and in each book calls upon the services of ‘Wonder Wizards’ whose moto is ‘Wonder Wizards make all things Wonderful’. Each book features a different colour wizard and things just never go to plan. The ‘King Derek and the Wonder Wizards’ series will eventually contain 7 books and so far the first 3 have been published.
What genre(s) of book do you write?
I like to write comedy and I like to write from the unfortunate in-love male character. Although, I have been planning recently to write a murder mystery which might be quite dark.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I actually wrote the first two thirds of the book 25 years ago but never got round to finishing it until last year. I suppose I was very influenced by reading books written by Mike Gayle that are aimed at the 30 –something male audience. When I hit my 40th birthday I set myself the challenge of finishing the book and publishing it.
How long did it take you to write “First Years – Piranhas in the Bedroom”?
As I say it took 26 years but I am hoping to complete the sequel in less than a year.
What is the working title of your next book(s)?
It is the sequel. ‘First Years – Snakes in the Stores’.
When and why did you begin writing?
I have always written and even in my junior school I started to win awards for my writing. I suppose my overactive imagination was to blame. Comedy writing, for me, really started in my late teens as I wrote scripts for pantomimes and amateur drama groups. In the last ten years I have written many blogs including an online fictional story called ‘Tell the Groom’. That I hope one day might become a book. It features an unlucky man who is jilted on the morning of his wedding day.
Do you self publish your books or go through an agency?
I have so far Self Published and marketed them myself. A process I like doing and even if my books become more popular I might stick to Self Publishing. It allows me to write the story that I want to write without censorship.
What part of writing books do you find the hardest?
Probably the ending. My ideas for plots come to me quite easily and I can get on a real roll, but it is normally at the end when I hit the block. The wrapping up part is the place where I sometimes struggle.
What do you do in your spare time?
I write in my spare time because during the day I am an IT Consultant. But when I am not writing my main passion is supporting Aston Villa. A team that seems to get a mention in most of my books. I have had a season ticket for 33 years and write on a number of the Villa blogs.
Who is your favourite author?
I have three whose books I always rush to buy (or download these days). They are Nick Hornby, Mike Gayle and Dan Brown. I really enjoy the style of both Nick and Mike’s writing. They both write, like myself, as if you are inside the head of the leading male character. They seems to really understand how the modern male thinks. The humour helps and I am a romantic so this ladlit is very well suited to me. Dan Brown’s books are obviously very different but virtually all of them have gripped me from the start. If you pushed me to choose one though it would be Mike Gayle.
What’s your favourite genre to read?
Probably just answered that one. I like fictional romantic comedy and not too erotic. The sort your old dad could read without blushing Also I love football books. My favourite two being ‘Fever Pitch’ and ‘The Damned United’. Interestingly both of these are classed as Fiction but based on real events.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
My advice really is just do it, but write first and for most for yourself. Very few authors get noticed or make a living out of it, but there is still a buzz to seeing your work in print. So Self Publish first and use the free Social Media routes to get yourself known. Oh, and don’t be afraid to give your book away.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Just thank you for allowing me this opportunity and I hope people have as many laughs reading ‘First Year – Piranhas in the Bedroom’ as I had writing it.

Interview: Dakota Madison/Karen Mueller Bryson

What have you had published?
My Dakota Madison romance novels include: Matchplay; Fire on Ice; Be Good, Slow No Wake, Still Fine at Forty and After Alex Died. In addition, Fair Play, (Book Two in the Matchplay series) is scheduled for release next week.
I have also published adult fiction, non-fiction and books for teens and tweens under my legal name, Karen Mueller Bryson.
What genre(s) of book do you write?
My Dakota Madison books as all contemporary romance novels. I write in other genres under my given name.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I wrote my first book when I was four years old! I’ve wanted to write ever since I learned how to read.
How long did it take you to write “After Alex Died”?
I have been writing a novel every month since November 2012. After I wrote Still Fine at Forty for National Novel Writing Month, I decided to challenge myself to write a novel every month for a year. I’m now on my ninth novel! I have been blogging about my progress here:
What is the working title of your next book(s)?
As I mentioned, Book Two of the Matchplay series, Fair Play will be released next week and Book Three, Final Play, is scheduled for release in August. I am also in the process of writing Book Two of the Fire on Ice Series, The Playmaker, which will be released in September.
When and why did you begin writing?
I have been writing my entire life, ever since I learned to read. I get tremendous joy from telling stories and I love to immerse myself in my characters’ lives.
Do you self publish your books or go through an agency?
I own my own small publishing company, Short on Time Books. I publish my work as well as the work of six other authors.
What part of writing books do you find the hardest?
Because I work full time as a university professor I find it difficult to find enough time to write everything I would like to write. I currently have nine “to be written” books swimming around in my head!
What do you do in your spare time?
When I’m not teaching or writing, I spend time with my husband and our bloodhounds. I like to read, watch movies and travel.
Who is your favourite author?
It’s difficult for me to select just one! There are so many authors I enjoy reading. In the romance genre, I really like the work on Colleen Hoover, Tammara Webber, Simone Elkeles and Charles Sheehan-Miles.
What’s your favourite genre to read?
I read nearly every genre but I most enjoy romance and autobiography.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Try to write every day, even if it is just a paragraph or two. It’s important to set a consistent writing habit.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you so much for interviewing me! I appreciate it!

Freebie Friday: My Erotic Alphabet Series - Careers (2/26)

B is for Bartender

Series: My Erotic Alphabet Series - Careers
Author: Katie L Thompson
Genre: Erotic
Length: approx. 1700 words
Release Date: 18/07/2013
Blurb: Ella spends her time going from guy to guy never finding ‘the one.’ When she breaks up with yet another one of her boyfriends she’s ready to give up on guys all together but Danny has other ideas.

Danny’s been a bartender all of his life. Working behind a bar is the perfect place to hook up with girls but the girl he lusts after always says no. After Ella breaks up with yet another one of her boyfriends he manages to convince her to give him a chance. After all, he’s not her ‘type.’

.
Available from the following retailers:
Amazon US

Extract:
Louie could hear sobbing coming from the bathroom, from where he stood behind the counter at the opposite end of the room. Being a bartender it was nothing unusual for him to hear weeping coming from at least one corner of the room, whether it was a girl crying over a breakup or a man bawling over a broken nose, but this sound seemed familiar. He was sure he’d heard it before on at least one occasion.
Sure enough, a few minutes later Ella walked out of the bathroom with red splodges around her eyes and a soggy tissue in one hand.
“You alright,” Danny asked. It was a stupid question really, judging by the sight of her. “I mean, what’s wrong?”
“Oh, just Patrick being an ass. He broke up with me. Again.” By now the tears were flowing again and Danny was pushing a glass of cider in her direction.
“He’s not worth it,” Danny said, not that it was worth wasting his breath. He’d told her the same thing the last three times he’d broken up with her and yet, the following week they’d be back together and the week after that she’d be sitting back at the bar, crying her eyes out again. It was like a vicious circle which she couldn’t seem to drag herself out of.  He wondered what kind of power Patrick had over her to have her obey to his every command.
Danny had tried for months to get Ella to go out with him. Just one chance. That was all he wanted, but although she’d given Patrick three chances she wouldn’t even give him one.

Author Interview Questions
What have you had published?
A Playboy’s Love Affair is another contemporary romance published by The Wild Rose Press earlier this year.
What genre(s) of book do you write?
I write sexy contemporary romances.
What inspired you to write your first book?
A Playboy’s Love Affair was inspired by a song titled “One Kiss.” This isn’t the very first book I’ve written but it is my first published book.
How long did it take you to write “One Wicked Night”?
I wrote the original draft over a weekend and saved it away. A few months later I went back to it and added new scenes and deleted others. Overall, I’d say it took me about four to six months total to finish it.
What is the working title of your next book(s)?
The next book in the Wicked Series is titled “Wicked Game.”
When and why did you begin writing?
I’ve always loved writing and back in 2006 I started to take it a bit more serious and wrote on and off. In 2012, I decided to take it to the next level and give it all I could. My mind is constantly running with ideas for sexy and fun stories, and some characters are just too loud they won’t leave me alone until I put them on paper. J
Do you self publish your books or go through an agency?
No, I haven’t self-published. I’ve been lucky to have found publishers who’ve liked my voice and my stories.
What part of writing books do you find the hardest?
The beginning, the middle, and the end. All parts of writing a book are hard, at least for me. I play with different scenarios on how I want a story to begin, where I want it to go and how I want it to end. For me it’s about what feels right and wanting to write a story I love.
What do you do in your spare time?
I don’t really have a lot of spare time, but when I do I read or watch a nice movie.
Who is your favourite author?
I have many but my favourite of favourites is Jude Deveraux.
What’s your favourite genre to read?
I love historicals.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
For aspiring writers the only advice I have is to never give up. Rejections will happen (more often than not), but there’s always the one editor who will like your voice.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you so much for having me on your blog. It’s been a lot of fun.

Review: "The Georgia Corbins" by Kara Leigh Miller

Kara Leigh Miller has, once again, created a story that contains everything a great story needs. The main characters (Ali, Levi and Tucker) are so realistic that you can't help but feel for them.

The plot was well thought out. A love triangle between a girl and two brothers. A plot that hooks you from beginning to end that makes it hard to put down. I read this book in two sittings.

The story was well written and really captures the life of a teenager. The only thing I disliked about this book was the ending. I was definitely rooting for the other guy, although, Miller's reasons for the ending were satisfactory (I just hope there's another book and it turns the other way).

I would recommend this book to anyone. It is great for a teenager who will be going through things like this at the moment, but it's also a great read for an older person who can thing back and remember their teenage years.
